All the world’s a stage for the incomparable William Shakespeare. Hailing from Stratford-Upon-Avon, the Bard took London by storm in the late 1500s where his plays shocked and delighted audiences. A particularly dramatic performance of Henry VIII even saw the Globe Theatre engulfed in flames, when a theatrical cannon sparked the thatch roof.
